This has been an interesting week. It was a reminder of some of the things I learned when I was making scrapbooks. It is so important to use the right types of paper and products to preserve our records.
The other thing that came from this weeks lesson was the need to preserve my father's papers. Over the last few years it has become apparent that I am the gatherer of my father's history. He was a private man and did not share much of his life with his children. Now I can see documents and letters that were important to him. However they were kept in a scrapbook that went through a flood and some of them were damaged. But a lot of the damage came from the adhesives that were used back in the 60's and 70's. I have put most of it in an archival safe box and then I need to organize it.
I feel this will help me be prepared if and when I am to examine old documents and respect the age of those documents.
